题名:Pathways to digitalization: Configuration strategy for driving digital innovation performance in manufacturing firms

摘要:
Purpose -- Based on innovation diffusion theory and the TOE framework, this study explores the configuration strategies and driving pathways of digital innovation performance between technological, organizational and environmental factors.
Design/methodology/approach -- The study employed the fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) and machine learning method. The data were collected by using annual reports from 136 manufacturing firms.
Findings -- The findings reveal that data element application, digital infrastructure, organizational size, managerial abilities, resource constraint, financial technology development and market competition pressure, as simultaneous preconditions, collaboratively drive digital technology innovation performance and digital management innovation performance in manufacturing firms. Moreover, two distinct configurations explain high digital technology innovation performance: “technology-driven” and “organizational ability and innovation environment-driven”. Three specific configurations are identified to explain high digital management innovation performance: “technology and innovation environment-driven”, “technology and organizational capability-driven” and “all factor-driven”. Third, these configuration strategies for driving digital technology innovation performance and digital management innovation performance exhibit substitutive effects, respectively.
Originality/value - The study contributes to the theoretical literature on digital innovation and provides managerial insights for manufacturing firms implementing digital innovation and digital transformation strategies.

王帆,女,东北林业大学讲师,硕士生导师,管理学博士。主要研究方向为数智创新、数智化转型、绿色低碳发展、数字营销等,先后在《科学学研究》、《管理工程学报》、《研究与发展管理》、《Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management》、《Management Decision》等国内外高水平期刊发表学术论文10余篇;任中国技术经济学会技术孵化与创新生态分会理事、黑龙江省管理学学会理事、中国科学学与科技政策研究会技术创新专业委员会会员;主持黑龙江省哲学社会规划项目、东北林业大学校级教育教学改革项目、中央高校基本科研业务费项目,参与国家社会科学基金重点项目、国家社会科学基金面上项目、教育部人文社会科学研究青年项目、黑龙江省自然科学基金项目等10余项国家级和省部级以上科研项目;荣获中国技术经济学会(国家一级学会)第三十二届学术年会优秀年会论文;担任多本CSSCI源、SSCI源期刊匿名审稿人。
